~ Sugar Cookies ~
Hey there Fireflies! So today I am sharing my sugar cookie recipe with you! It has to be one of the most requested deserts that my kids ask me to make. It is actually my Grandma Alice's recipe, which is who I got my love of baking from! Grandma Alice was the sweetest most loving woman and I know every time I make one of her recipes she is smiling down on me from heaven! The things I love about these sugar cookies besides being buttery and delicious, is that they are easy and only take 7 ingredients to make! I always have the ingredients I need for these cookies! Which is especially helpful when I am supposed to send in a treat for school and forgot! Sometimes I want to make a Sour Cream Pound Cake but I don't always have sour cream. Or chocolate chip cookies but I don't always have milk chocolate chips in my pantry. Two recipes I will share at a later time ;) This sugar cookie recipe is my go to when I want to bake something quick!! It is also fun for the kids to get involved and roll the dough into small balls to put on the cookie sheet for baking! You can store the cookies in a air tight container for a few days but I promise they won't last because they are so yummy!!! I hope you give these cookies a try, I promise you won't be disappointed!
~Ingredients
1 1/4 cups Sugar
1 cup Butter softened *use good quality butter...I always bake with Plugera
3 Egg Yolks
1 tsp Vanilla
1 tsp Baking Soda
1/2 tsp Cream of Tartar
2 1/2 cups Flour
~Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Place butter and sugar into mixing bowl and beat with a mixer until combined.
Add eggs, vanilla, baking soda, cream of tartar and mix until blended.
Lastly, add flour one cup at a time finishing with the 1/2 a cup...mix until everything is well combined.
Using your hands roll dough into small balls, about a heaping tablespoon per ball, and place on a baking sheet.
Bake 10~11 minutes or until the tops start to slightly crack. Once you see the cracks get them out! All ovens are different so keep an eye on the cookies so you don't over bake.
~ No need to wait, I love eating these cookies after they come out of the oven! They are so good warm!
